HIRING: PRODUCER FOR BOSS NEW PLAYS

Lantern Writers are a collective of writers who support each other’s writing journeys and create new writing to be performed on stage. We have had work produced at venues across Liverpool such as 81 Renshaw and The Casa and members of our group have gone on to produce work at St George’s Hall, Liverpool Theatre Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.

On November 4th-6th we are producing Boss New Plays at Liverpool’s Royal Court Studio. Each night will feature short plays and extracts written by members of the group and will be performed and directed by some of Liverpool’s brightest talent. More info about the night can be found here.

Lantern Writers are looking for a producer to oversee the production of the three nights, both in the lead up and also on the dates of performance. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a passion for theatre and performance to join our team.

This is a paid role. You will liaise with the group and also with Liverpool’s Royal Court and the many creatives involved in the performance and technical aspect of the project.

Our previous producer went into a full-time position with Teatro Pomodoro following their performance in this role and has since produced professional work at venues such as The Unity Theatre and Capstone Theatre.

The key duties are as follows:

  • Liaise with script writers to identify their needs with regards to Directors, Actors Technical Support and props

  • In consultation with Directors ensure a programme of rehearsals is in place

  • Liaise with Directors and Technical Support to ensure each script’s technical needs are met

  • Ensure the smooth running of each performance night

Person specification:

  • Project management experience (or an interest in developing skills in this area)

  • Good organisational skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of Writers, Directors and Actors

  • Evidence of working to deadlines and delivering on outcomes

  • Practical experience of working in the theatre (or an interest in developing skills in this area)

Payment – £300 set fee
